Our Mission
The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at Brown University promotes the interdisciplinary study of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Latine diaspora. CLACS organizes academic conferences, lectures, and cultural events, while supporting a vibrant community of faculty affiliates and students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Established in 1984, CLACS builds upon the foundations of the undergraduate concentration approved in 1973 and continues to foster innovative research, scholarship, and engagement with the region's diverse histories, cultures, and contemporary challenges.
