Opportunities
The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) provides funding to support pedagogical innovation and the expansion of the Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACA) curriculum. These grants are designed to support the creation of new courses or the significant enhancement of existing ones, or the inclusion of guest experts in the classroom.
- New Curricular Offerings: Up to $4,000 to develop new courses in Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
- Course Enhancement: Up to $2,000 to enhance a course already "on the books".
- Pedagogical Support / Visitor Grants: Up to $1,250 to support visitors in the classroom, field trips, or other kinds of pedagogical activities (with a maximum $250 honorarium for Zoom or in-person visitors).
Eligibility & Requirements:
- Courses must be cross-listed with the LACA concentration.
- Proposals must include novel curricular activities or improvements.
Eligible Expenses:
- Funds may be used to cover classroom supplies, field-trip expenses, class projects, or guest speakers. Additionally, funds may be used to purchase desk copies for TAs if publishers do not provide sufficient digital or hard copies.
